“We don’t just talk to you about it. We show you that it works. Then, explain and coach you so that you own that connection with your child!”

Frequently Asked Questions
About Parent Coaching & Home Strategies
What is parent coaching?
A supportive, practical programme that teaches you communication strategies for daily routines, play, and meaningful interactions. At Speech Therapy Adventures, we show you what are the possibilities by interacting directly with your child and then explain and coach you to get the same results. We often get the interaction going and then pass it on to you so you can build that relatioship with your child.
Who is coaching for?
Parents, caregivers, helpers, and grandparents — anyone supporting your child regularly.
What does a coaching session look like?
The therapist will engage your child, explain some underlying theory, model sound strategies, coach you to continue with the interaction or the pretend play, video feedback (if comfortable), and personalised home routines.
Do I need teaching experience?
Not at all. Coaching is gentle, realistic, and built around your strengths.
Will this help if my child isn’t speaking yet?
Yes — this is especially important as early communication foundations start with gestures, shared attention, and simple interactions. Once these foundations are solid, the words will follow.
How do you support overwhelmed parents?
We remove pressure, simplify steps, affirm parents and build confidence one moment at a time.
Do you give strategies for AAC users?
Yes — modelling AAC at home can significantly boost progress.
Does coaching replace direct therapy?
Both complement each other. Coaching ensures progress continues between sessions.
Does this feel like homework?
No worksheets or drills. Strategies are woven into moments you’re already doing — mealtimes, play, bath time, routines.
Can coaching be done online?
Yes — tele-coaching is highly effective and flexible for busy families.
